As you can see
we have done quite a bit of remodeling on the website.
We have experienced such rapid growth over the last 18
months that the site started to become for lack of
better words, a bit "kludgy" and instead of just trying
to fix the leaks, we decided to rebuild from the ground
up.
We constantly get feedback from our members and website
visitors and although we always like to hear what
everyone likes about the website, we actually appreciate
hearing what doesn't work for you too. Getting
that type of feedback helps us make improvements that in
the end makes everyone like the site more and more.
The biggest changes we made were to the home page when
you first visit the site. We have refined the page
with a headlines section that lists important news and
information. We have replaced the old calendar
with a new interactive calendar that is easy to use and
pretty robust.
We have also made a giant stride in the world of social
media. LACS now has a presence on
MySpace,
Facebook and
Twitter. We have added icons to the home page
that has the specific URLs to those websites so you can
follow us there as well. In addtion, we have added
a Twitter feed applet that will display up to the minute
updates that we post on all those social media websites
in one convenient little application.
The next major improvement is the menu navigation
system, this was one of the areas of major overhaul.
We completely redesigned the menu and moved it from a
horizontal menu to a vertical sidebar style menu.
The old menu was limited by a specific number of
"buttons" we could fit across the screen which forced us
to bury many of the sub pages sometimes in areas that
did not make the most sense which in turn made it
difficult to find things at times.
The new menu has been simplified and many of the things
you want are now one click away. We have also
added a diving resources button that
links out to dive conditions,
beach diving and
boat diving information.
This by far will be a work in progress for quite some
time but our hope is to have a premier spot on our
website to get up to date and pertinent information
about diving in and around Southern California.
Other little nice things we have added to the home page
include a live local weather applet, a Dive News feed
and other links to partners and friends of LACS.
We invite you to explore our new site completely...let
us know what you like and anything else you would like
to see added in the future. Just email us at
webmaster@lacountyscuba.com, I look forward to
hearing from you.
In closing I wish to thank everyone for their help,
suggestions and support. Dive often and dive
safely! |
